The stoneware and porcelain pieces produced in Midrash Pottery are all lead-free and dishwasher safe. The cholent pots are oven-proof, and are a pleasure to use. You will be surprised to see how easy they are to clean. They clean easily because they are fired to cone 6, or 2250 F. Most work begins on the potter's wheel and is then embellished with clay additions. Many pieces are cut and reassembled. As wheel made and hand built pieces are never exactly the same, the owner has a true original. Molds are never used! They would inhibit creativity.

I find that as I approach a piece in preparation for a new holiday season, I cannot resist making changes. It would be fair to say that all of my work falls into the category of limited edition.

Working with an off white base, colors are added with additional glazes, and glaze colorants. Over the years the pieces have become more and more colorful while remaining soft. Colors, just like the pieces themselves, have a way of changing. Midrash Pottery is an art in progress that hopefully will continue to evolve!
